SAMLPE # 1

Description: A small pind of about 10,000 residents on the banks of a
Canal (joining upper bari doab canal with Ravi), on the road
from batala to Fatehgarh Churian turn right from Aliwal (on the
western bank and third village that comes along the canal
is Saidpur.  (about 3000 of its resident live in the habitations across
the canal on eastern bank one sarpanch though).

This village mostly has houses of Bajwas, Mangats and other jutts
and two families of Brahmins.

Village has a Gurdwara, a small shrine to some peer.

A bridge over the canal is about 1 km away from village joining both the
sections of village. Mostly middle class farmers and poor workers live in this village.

All houses in this village are modern brick concrete house.

A very peaceful village where in evenings you can see people
sitting on Manjis and watching televisions in their VEHRAs. (yards)

History:This village was a muslim village before partition
and now it is about 70% Sikh village., 20% christian
and 10% hindu

Good number of Harijans are also there.Main Gotar (Sub cast) is  Gill.Other gotars like Bhular, Chahal, Kingra, Sidhu, Bassi, Kaler are also here.

Description:Chhapar is situated on Raikot Ahmadgarh road about three 3 km from Ahmadgarh. Main population is of Jat sikhs, about 20 hindu families are also there, who are purohits of Guag Mari (a place where snake is worshiped).

There are two gurdwaras, one temple,one mosque are there in the village.

Facilities: Water supply systems, 24 hours electric supply, Primery health centre, High school Co operative Bank, two sports clubs and village welfare society. Village is also listed under Unat Gram Scheme.

History:Village was established by Chhapa Rani from where it got its name in 17th Century.

Other:Mela (fair) Chhapar is famous in North India and is attended by thousans of persons and all political parties of Punjab. Guga Mari is Famous place where snake is worshiped and mela is held in September. It is popular belief that Rani of Nabha state got blessed with a son from the Mari and renovated the place.
